Mark Abramson, LSC’s IT support.

Last Friday at the 2023 IT Professionals Conference, Mark Abramson was awarded the “Unsung Hero Award.” Mark is LSC’s IT expert and is also an alumnus of LSC with a B.S. in Agricultural Journalism. Nominated by LSC, Mark was honored for his significant contributions in service to the department over the past eight years and for regularly going beyond his call of duty and scope of responsibilities.

Although LSC is one of the smaller departments on campus, Mark handles multiple tasks and request from various stakeholders. He assists graduate students in technology emergencies while managing instructional facilities, provides IT support for faculty and staff, handles purchase orders, and assists with technology-related course logistics. One of many incidences that demonstrates Mark’s exceptional flexibility and efficiency was when he took the initiative to redistribute and set up 19 PC computers for graduate student offices in just two short weeks before the start Spring 2023 semester.

Moreover, Mark actively seeks solutions to complex problems, going above and beyond his responsibilities by delivering equipment to faculty members’ homes during the pandemic. He also serves as a liaison with Facilities Planning & Management, ensuring smooth operations during construction and addressing departmental concerns. Lastly, Mark continuously showcases his willingness to help as he even takes on coordinating LSC’s annual holiday party, which fosters a strong sense of community in the department.

Mark, congratulations and thank you for all that you do for LSC!
