Two LSC Ph.D.’s, Ashley A. Anderson (Ph.D., ’12) and doctoral candidate Michael Cacciatore, have accepted tenure-track faculty positions.

Ashley A. Anderson (Ph.D., ’12) has accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Science and Technology Communication in the Department of Journalism and Technical Communication at Colorado State University.

Anderson finished her Ph.D. in 2012 and is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Center for Climate Change Communication at George Mason University. Her dissertation is titled, “The social context of online news: How incivility in online comments impacts public perceptions of and public engagement with science.” She was advised by Professor Dominique Brossard.

“I am thrilled about this opportunity to join the faculty at Colorado State, where there is strong support for innovations in journalism research and instruction,” said Anderson. “I look forward to continuing my scholarship at a university with a strong emphasis on science and the environment. I am grateful for the opportunities and support I’ve received in the Department of Life Sciences Communication at the University of Wisconsin and in the Center for Climate Change Communication at George Mason University.”

LSC doctoral candidate Michael Cacciatore recently accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Risk Public Relations in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations at the University of Georgia. In this position, Michael will research the strategic communication of risk information with the public and teach courses in public relations theory. Cacciatore is advised by Professor Dietram A. Scheufele.

“I am incredibly excited to be joining the faculty in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations. It’s a Top-5 nationally-ranked program and one that will allow me to further my research agenda around issues of strategic risk communication,” said Cacciatore. “I can’t wait to begin, and will always be grateful to the faculty and staff here in LSC for helping make this opportunity possible.”
