I am very honored to receive this scholarship. This scholarship will help offset some of my expenses next year. This will enable me to take additional classes this summer to expand my skills and knowledge of various art techniques, including digital art, scientific illustration and visual communication. With the help of this scholarship, I will be able to take the classes necessary to prepare for a career as a scientific illustrator, focusing on spreading environmental awareness.
Future Goals: Upon graduation from UW-Madison, I plan to continue my education by earning a Certificate in Scientific Illustration from California State University, Monterey Bay. Working as a scientific illustrator, I will help educate our society about specific scientific information, including environmental issues. I hope that my artwork may be featured in textbooks, museum exhibits, or field guides.

When I saw this internship posted, I thought it would be a great opportunity to immerse myself into communications! I’m also very interested in marketing, so I believe that this will be a fantastic learning opportunity. Lastly, I have an agriculture background, so this is definitely a great fit for me. Thank you, Farm Journal, I can’t wait to begin!
Future Goals: I’ll still exploring possible career options, but think that I would be an excellent fit in marketing because I’m very creative! I am sure that I’ll learn lots in this internship which will also help me decide what else I’m interested in.
