Cameron D. Mackey is a Researcher I in the Department of Life Sciences Communication at the University of Wisconsin. He is a recent recipient of a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from Ohio University. He also received an M.S. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and B.S. in both Psychology and Sociology from Jacksonville State University. Mackey’s work focuses on how majority group members react to threats to their status or worldview and how minority group members cope with their underprivileged status, with particular attention to how religious and nonreligious individuals view the relationship between religion and science and how that impacts participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs. His academic work has been published in Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Psychology of Religion and Spirituality, Group Processes & Intergroup Relations, Public Understanding of Science, and Journal of Applied Social Psychology, among other outlets.
