At the 93rd Annual Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation (WFBF) Meeting, LSC alumna, Jenny Dierickx, was selected the winner of the organization’s prestigious Young Farmer and Agriculturist Excellence in Agriculture contest.
The winner is determined based on their “involvement in agriculture, leadership ability, involvement and participation in Farm Bureau and other civic and service organizations,” according to the WFBF website. Applicants must have derived a majority of their income from a non-production agribusiness for the past three years.
Dierickx graduated in 2005 with a degree in Life Sciences Communication, which allowed her to combine her love of agriculture with her interest in communications and marketing. She cites that winning the Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association (WALSAA) “Active Aggie” award her senior was one of her greatest collegiate accomplishments, and she now serves as a director on the WALSAA board.
Currently, Dierickx is a marketing executive at Filament Marketing, a strategic marketing and management firm specifically involved in dairy livestock and general agricultural industry markets. She recently completed a three-year term on the state Wisconsin Farm Bureau Women’s Committee as the District 2 representative.
For winning, Dierickx gets the opportunity to compete in the national Excellence in Agriculture contest and the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 94th Annual Meeting next month in Nashville, TN. She also received a $250 FAST STOP gift card from GROWMARK, Inc. towards FS products.
It is certain that Dierickx has and will continue to do great things in the agricultural industry. She is a great example of the success that LSC graduates can achieve after graduation, and we all give her a hearty, “Congratulations!” for her accomplishments!
