Global Collaboration

Over the course of its more than 100 year history the Department of Life Sciences Communication has developed extensive research and outreach programs abroad.

For example, visiting faculty member from Thailand, Sukanya Buranadechachai, presented her research at the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles on January 21, 2012.

Her research focuses on the impact of news from Thailand, as represented in Thai-owned newspapers, on LA readers.

Buranadechachai’s study, “Past, Present and future of the Thai Newspapers in Los Angeles,” is a first of its kind look at how the nine Thai newspapers in Los Angeles serve their audience, the largest population of Thais living outside of Thailand. A collaboration with LSC made her research possible.
