Dalton, a native of Mt. Prospect, Illinois, served as goalkeeper for the Badgers’ women’s soccer team for three years while a student. In 2011 the Big Ten Conference named her Goalkeeper of the Year.

Off the field, despite her busy schedule, Dalton was a leading force for community service during her time at UW-Madison. In 2008 Dalton started the first ever campus-wide food drive, the Red and White Hunger Fight. Since its inception the program has collected more than 11 tons of food and raised more than $4,443, which provided Thanksgiving meals to more than 18,333 families in South Central Wisconsin.

Reflecting on her LSC experience, Dalton had this to say, “I’ve always known that I am a skillful writer. After taking a few LSC courses it felt right, that this is where I belong. I switched my major soon after and didn’t look back. The LSC department was incredibly welcoming and helped me get on the right path towards achieving my goals.”

Dalton will be heading to Spain for preseason training in March and will start out the regular season with her new teammates in April. She’ll live in Selfoss, Iceland, a town of about 6,500 people located 45 minutes from the capital city of Reykjavík. She’ll be joined in the team by two other women from the United States and is looking forward to the experience of getting to know people and places in Iceland.

Wishing you the best of luck Michele from all of us in LSC!
