Background

I am serving my ninth year as department chair in a faculty election that occurs annually. I am truly honored to be the first female chair in a department with such a distinguished record of achievement.

My interest in communication began with a fascination for languages as a small child. The fascination grew, and I studied modern languages and literature at Oxford University. Years of translating gave me an appreciation for nuance, and the arenas where language does more than convey information correctly and clearly. My MBA and PhD enabled me to study language as a persuasive force in the marketplace.

Today, I teach marketing communication, with a particular focus on agricultural and scientific products and services. My research concerns advertising and health, and cause-related marketing.

In addition to fulfilling the responsibilities of chair in the department and the college, I serve on the University Academic Planning Council, the Dean of Student’s Advisory Board and the Women Faculty Mentoring Board.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is any way that I can make your relationship with LSC more meaningful.
